PharmBot AI and the NHS SBS AI Framework:
A Step Forward for Pharmacy Innovation
When NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) launched its £150 million Healthcare AI Solutions framework (SBS10523), it marked a significant move toward embedding AI technologies across the NHS.
Earlier this year, I submitted a response to the framework’s Request for Information (RFI), highlighting the potential of AI to drive transformation in pharmacy — particularly in areas such as:
- Pharmacy Efficiency
- Virtual Pharmacists
- Predicting Adverse Events
- Personalised & Precision Medicine
Following the recent market engagement meeting hosted by NHS SBS, I was pleased to see that all of these themes now feature in the revised lot structure — reflecting a broader recognition of the critical role AI can play within the pharmacy sector.
While I can’t claim sole influence, it’s encouraging to know that the contributions from PharmBot AI may have helped shape the direction of the framework and amplified the pharmacy voice within the national AI agenda.
Why This Matters
Historically, pharmacy has often been overlooked in digital transformation strategies. These new categories show a shift: a growing acknowledgment that pharmacy deserves a seat at the table when it comes to AI and innovation.
At PharmBot AI, we’ve been building solutions precisely in these areas:
- AI-powered prescription verification
- Virtual pharmacist support tools
- Clinical alerts for medication risks
- Tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety
Looking Ahead
We’re excited to continue engaging with NHS SBS as the framework progresses toward launch later this year. PharmBot AI is ready to support NHS partners in realising the full potential of AI in pharmacy.
It’s a positive step — and hopefully the beginning of a much bigger journey.
